AFTER HOURS EMERGENCY INFORMATION
Should you experience a pet medical emergency after normal clinic hours we would encourage you to seek immediate emergency assistance at one of the two metropolitan 24 hour emergency veterinary clinics. Each clinic is staffed with a full complement of board certified emergency/critical care veterinarians to handle any pet emergency. They are both fully equipped with the latest and most sophisticated diagnostic and monitoring equipment that includes a dedicated intensive care unit (ICU) on site.
If you believe your pet has ingested a poison or prescription medication not prescribed for it and it is after hours call the ASPCA poison control hotline at (888)426-4435.They may instruct you to induce vomiting. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING OF YOUR PET UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY THE HOTLINE OR BY A VETERINARIAN. You may do more harm depending on which poison your pet has swallowed.
Use extreme caution when moving an injured, painful, distressed, or disoriented pet. A painful pet may lash out by biting as a defense mechanism. You should move your pet as little as possible. Always cover an injured pet with a blanket or towel to help maintain its core
body temperature. Remember to stay calm. This will help your pet and other family members remain calm during an emergency episode.
